The Heathcote Tempranillo is from the northern and central parts of Heathcote. The Rutherglen Tempranillo is sourced from the Debortoli Rutherglen Estate vineyard.
2019 saw late spring rains allowed the vines to prosper following a relatively dry winter. Lower than average yields and a significantly earlier harvest allowed for good varietal flavour development and balanced acid throughout the vineyards.
Fragrant red and blue fruits, violets, savoury gentle tannins, richness and earth. Red wine with character and charm.
The vineyards are harvested when there is a balance of fruit weight and ripeness. These grapes are crushed into a variety of fermenters including open fermenters and vats with some whole bunches added to the ferment for complexity and structure to the wine. Fermented at 25-30C for 6-8 days before a small portion was matured in older barrels before the final blending.
Alc/Vol: 13.5%, pH: 3.63, TA: 6.0 g/L
Ready for immediate enjoyment but has cellaring potential for up to 5-6 years.
